The mission of the Division of Architecture is to provide state-of-the-art academic programs of excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The programs will produce highly qualified graduates who are prepared and capable of serving as leaders and contributors in our ever-evolving society. The faculty and staff will provide outstanding academic support at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional school levels.
The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree is a four-year pre-professional program that offers a broad-based education in the fundamentals of architecture. It is divided into pre-architecture (years one and two--lower division) and architecture (years three and four--upper division). Students may be admitted as freshmen or as transfer students.
The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) program leads to a professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)--the educational credentials needed for licensure as a registered, practicing architect. The primary mission of the B.Arch program is to prepare students for the practice of architecture. The School fulfills this mission through an urban design studio, a comprehensive building design studio and various lecture courses.
The Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) program is the professional graduate program leading to the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)—the educational credentials needed for licensure as a registered, practicing architect. The program is designed as a two-year curriculum for students with a four-year, pre-professional degree in architecture.
Master of Architecture in Architecture is the professional graduate program leading to the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)—the educational credentials needed for licensure as a registered, practicing architect.The program is designed as a three-and-one-half-year curriculum for students without a pre-professional degree in architecture.
The Master of Science in Architecture: Facility Management Track is a collaborative professional degree program between the School of Architecture and the School of Business and Industry.
The application deadline is typically the middle of January of each year. Contact the school for the specific date. After February 1, applications are not necessarily turned away, but they cannot be guaranteed priority for placement or financial aid consideration. The first letters are mailed at the end of February. Students are either admitted, on a waiting list or denied admission.
Minimum admission requirements for freshman & transfers with less than 60 hours--3.0/4.0 high school GPA; SAT (Reading: 27, Math: 26, Writing & Language: 27). ACT (English: 19, Reading: 22, Math: 22). Transfers with 60 hours, a minimum 2.5/4.0 GPA is required. International TOEFL score (computer-based 173, Internet-based 80) or IELTS 7. The university admits qualified applicants to the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies program.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the School of Architecture
and Engineering Technology receives the completed application materials by the second
week of January. If materials are not received by the deadline, the application may
not be considered for admission. Admission is competitive and considered on a space-available
basis.
