FAMU SAET Portfolio Submission Guidelines

Your portfolio should demonstrate the breadth and depth of your academic and design experience. Please follow the guidance below when preparing your submission:

1. Content and Organization

  • Include projects completed during the final two to three years of your undergraduate architecture degree.
  • Present your most recent academic work first.
  • Additional materials, such as competition entries or independent projects, may also be included.
  • Professional work may be submitted; however, you must clearly describe each project and explicitly state your role and responsibilities within the practice.
  • A Table of Contents should be included, indicating whether each project is academic or professional.

2. Presentation of Projects

  • Each project should be clearly explained and properly referenced.
  • Present your work in a way that graphically communicates the design process, showing how concepts and ideas developed into the final proposal.
  • The narrative should emphasize both design intention and critical reflection.

3. Evaluation Criteria
Faculty reviewers will assess portfolios with particular attention to the following areas:

  • Development of design and representational skills over time.
  • Design intention and process, demonstrating the ability to integrate multiple factors at both building and urban scales.
  • Design synthesis, addressing user needs, site conditions, accessibility, and environmental impact.
  • Evidence of technical integration, including building envelope systems, structural systems, environmental systems, and building performance (at least one project must show this integration).
